Why, deep down, the topic of giftedness (HPI) will keep annoying everyone for a long time?
-
An IQ test has no absolute value, but those who administer them rely solely on it to make a diagnosis.
-
Parents and their self-diagnoses based on what they read on social media, convinced they’ve given birth to a little genius because it flatters them, or even makes them feel unique… and those who don’t get it at all.
-
So-called experts in diagnosis… who aren’t actually experts.
-
Public hype, because everyone can recognize themselves in the latest viral post or article by some self-proclaimed, niche “HPI expert” explaining the “hidden signs of giftedness”—which, in reality, apply to almost everyone.
-
Misinformation and TV stereotypes, where the gifted individual is either a tortured genius or a social alien incapable of “being” or behaving like everyone else.
-
Pseudo-experts inventing shallow new terminological concepts to stand out, sell books, and maybe more if they’re lucky.
-
Personal development gurus and life coaches jumping on the HPI bandwagon, selling “eye-opening” coaching sessions to finally succeed in life.
-
All those who complain or expose minor issues in a LinkedIn post or an X thread, convinced they’ve figured it all out.
-
Researchers still trying to debunk some myths… and the “real” knowledgeable professionals, constantly learning and practicing with the genuine goal of moving things forward, exhausted from having their message drowned in this media circus.
-
Specialized schools and training programs, popping up and capitalizing on the trend and parental anxiety to create a framework.
-
Pseudo-scientific recovery efforts that invent ridiculous subcategories: “Highly Sensitive Gifted.” Hihi.
-
The frustrated ones who see HPI as a personal insult, as if it takes something away from them. But being more open-minded could actually add something to their lives…
-
Skeptics and social psychologists who explain that intelligence is built over time and that all of this is nonsense. (Yeah, I summed it up in one line.)
-
The national education system, which only acknowledges HPI based on an IQ test result, creating yet another rigid framework.
And, of course, all these people who hate being criticized on anything.
Whaaat? I forgot some? Come on, you must be joking…
Now, how do you expect this mess to sort itself out?
Let’s remember something simple: every communication, action, or production has an explicit or hidden agenda.
Nooo, but it's not only about self-interest, don’t exaggerate… Oh, I see you being skeptical behind your screen… I see you!
Anyway, just like every other topic today, it’s pure chaos.
And for those looking to actually learn something new—but the easy way, because let’s be real, we’re lazy too—there’s not much to sink your teeth into.
For example, if you read this article, you won’t learn anything. At best, you’ll get a bit more clarity on the context, and even that—well, I’m giving myself some credit here.
Every individual has their own struggles and successes, whether they’re HPI or not.
Everyone is searching for a way to identify this or something else because it’s reassuring—it’s part of the core of both internal and external relationship processing:
- Who am I?
- Who is the other?
And that will never stop being at the heart of social interactions.
