The Trap of the Three Keys to Personal Development That Keep You Stuck
Oh no, I’m not being ironic—this is exactly the combo of three "keys" that lock a person into stagnation. You see it in entrepreneurship, personal development, coaching, and beyond…
What? Am I contradicting myself by being ironic? Oh, just a little. Now, stay focused!
Welcome to the glorious age where we’ve given the mic to not-so-bright minds who isolate concepts just enough to prevent people from achieving what they preach—where every post is a revelation, and every self-proclaimed thinker hands you the ultimate key to success…
Until another post comes along a second later to contradict it magnificently.
I’m not a fan of isolation (well, I do try to isolate myself from nonsense, but that’s another topic—I’ll get to it one day). So I figured I’d bring everything together for you. You’re gonna love this.
And no, I’m not saying you should become cynical… just a little more lucid!
The Magical Trifecta in Action
- Celebrate Failure!
The first commandment of the modern guru: Failure is a blessing!
Fall, fail, crash—it’s the royal road to success! If your startup collapses, your project burns to the ground, or your signature offer interests absolutely no one, congratulations.
Why? Because it’s an opportunity to learn! And, conveniently, a perfect excuse to start over indefinitely. The more you fail, the more you’re a misunderstood genius in the making. But don’t worry—one day, you’ll make it.
I do wonder, though… who benefits from this narrative?
- Don’t Analyze the Problem, Just Find a Solution!
Here’s another foolproof maxim, straight from "solution-oriented coaches" (as if coaching had any other goal):
"Forget the problem, just focus on the solution."
If you failed, no need to analyze why—just look ahead and improvise! Trying to understand what went wrong? What a waste of time!
No clients? Don’t dwell on it—just invent a new service!
Falling off your skateboard over and over? Buy a helmet and keep going!
Because if you ignore the problem hard enough, it ceases to exist, right?
- Don’t Focus on What’s Wrong, Highlight What Works!
And now, the final doctrine: Don’t fix mistakes—praise what’s good instead! Because pointing out errors is demoralizing, didn’t you know?
This, we’re told, is the secret to progress.
Instead of explaining to a student why their reasoning is wrong, just highlight the one correct sentence in their draft and pray they become Einstein.
Instead of telling an employee why their report is incomprehensible, compliment their font choice and hope their next LinkedIn post fixes their writing.
Let’s Summarize the Path to Modern Success:
Jump in and fail! Because failure is a great teacher.
Don’t try to understand why you failed! Because reflection is for dinosaurs.
Don’t correct your mistakes! Because focusing on negatives is "toxic."
And above all… grow! Because excellence is within reach—if you just keep repeating the same mistakes over and over, without overthinking it.
All of this is absurd when there’s no structured framework.
All of this is absurd when you don’t ensure that you’re also reinforcing the right elements.
And That’s How You Build a Society Where:
People learn without analyzing,
"Progress" happens without understanding,
And success is achieved by failing.
And soon enough, your brain will be just another ChatGPT bot, running on autopilot.
Cool.
Success is simple: Do anything, don’t overthink, and believe in yourself.
Now, don’t forget to like this post and share your own ridiculous self-improvement mantra on social media.
After all, that’s how you become an expert, right? 😉
